Five Senses Grounding Technique

Deep Dive:

When stress overwhelms you, grounding techniques can bring you back to the present moment. This exercise engages all five senses to help you focus on the here and now.

Action Steps:

  1. Identify 5 things you can see around you.
  2. Identify 4 things you can touch.
  3. Identify 3 things you can hear.
  4. Identify 2 things you can smell.
  5. Identify 1 thing you can taste.

Take deep breaths as you go through each step, and notice how your stress levels decrease.
