Tips for a better appointment
- Bring your medication list, or all your pill bottles, so your doctor sees exactly what you take. See our printable Medication List.
- Bring someone with you if you can. A second set of ears helps, especially when the news is hard.
- Be honest and specific, even about things that feel embarrassing. Your doctor has heard it all before.
- Repeat back what you heard: "So I should take this twice a day with food, and call you if the rash comes back?" It's the best way to catch misunderstandings.
- Ask for written instructions or a copy of your visit summary. Many offices post it to an online patient portal.
