On Saturday evening, January 3rd, 2026, an electrical fire broke out in a 100+ year-old apartment building where my best friend Nicole and her mother lived. The fire originated two floors above their unit due to long-standing electrical wiring issues within the walls. The building superintendent had been made aware of persistent burning smells days prior to the fire but failed to take action. The fire spread rapidly throughout the building.
